Red, White and Tattooed

The Fourth of July is one of America’s most cherished holidays. With hot dogs being placed in tidy, sizzling rows on the grill, fireworks screaming and bursting across the sky, backyards across the country are packed with those honoring freedom. We at INKED, on the other hand, like to show our colors. Check out how these girls show off their patriotic spirit.

Everyone loves the lights and colors of fireworks on the Fourth of July, but the vibrant colors on Ackley’s thigh piece under a hot sun is a pretty fantastical display as well.

When Tom Petty wrote the chiming riffs of “American Girl,” he probably had somebody like Dani in mind.

Inked girl Erika decided to forgo the stars of the ole’ Grand Union—and straps—to show off some killer shoulder ink in this shot.

Suffern, NY Inked reader Haxa shows that the New York town’s patriotism goes further than its revolutionary war roots.

Mercedes Edison has been waiting all year for her Fourth of July BBQ.

Droves of people hit the beach for Fourth of July weekend, and you could probably catch Nicole among them

We threw Nicole on this list one more time because the only thing more motivating than the soaring chords of the “Star Spangled Banner” are the chimes of an ice cream truck. Popsicles rule.

Nicole has a good laugh in front of the Stars and Stripes.

Quinn struts her stuff in a minuscule American flag bikini.

Girls, guns and liberty. If a picture says a thousand words, this shot is basically your encyclopedia of all things American.

Songwriter Skylar Grey’s emotional work has caused tears to be shed by many, but she showed she can capture the emotion of the American spirit in this shot from our music issue.

Is there anything more American than a giant bald eagle tattoo across your shoulder? We’d be pressed to find anything able to beat that.

Mercedes Edison knows that it’s important to put on sun block before heading out to the beach on the Fourth.
