50 Cent Launching New Series ‘Redemption Ink’
The renowned rapper is producing a new television series for those seeking redemption through tattoos
Though Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has nearly done it all, the acclaimed rapper, actor and entrepreneur has more left in the tank. Jackson is now in the midst of launching a new Hulu series called “Redemption Ink,” which will cover the transformative power of tattoos.
The unscripted program will be produced under the rapper’s G-Unit Films & Television production company, known for producing the Starz hit series “Power,” which Jackson starred in, executive produced and directed.
“Redemption Ink” was originally created by Matt Bazan, who was inspired by Kansas-based Luis Guiterrez’s tattoo shop of the same name and corresponding mission statement. The show will follow the stories of ex-gang members and former hate group members who seek reclamation of their bodies after their troubled pasts. By covering up their gang tattoos—dark reminders of previous circumstances—with new, non-affiliated tattoos, these individuals will celebrate moving forward with a new chapter in their lives. While acquiring each piece, the tattoo clients will share their vivid and complex stories.
Jackson and SallyAnn Salsano of 495 Productions will serve as executive producers for the series. Guiterrez, the inspiration for the show, will also work as a producer. Under his banner, G-Unit Film & Television, Jackson has produced a variety of content such as the “Power” universe, and has also announced three “BMF” spinoffs along with the British boxing drama “Fightland.”
The multi-talented Jackson has had his history of arrests and gang-affiliation from a young age, but has since turned his life around to become one of the most notable artists in Hollywood. Thus, it’s nothing short of poetic justice for Jackson to uplift others’ redemption stories and give them some fresh ink along the way.
