Scary Spider Tattoos
Spiders are terrifying, yet for some reason people sure do love to get tattoos of them
For reasons that are completely beyond me, spider tattoos are very popular. You see, I have what psychiatrists would refer to as a touch of the ol’ arachnophobia. I’m absolutely petrified of spiders. Even thinking about them gives me the heebie-jeebies, so I cannot even fathom the desire to have a spider inked into your skin forever. I’d be constantly flogging myself with a rolled up magazine in an effort to kill the eight-legged demon.
While I understand the fascination some folks have—spiders are amazing creatures capable of outstanding feats—but I just can’t shake the fear. I wish I could, but I can’t. Every time I see a spider I don’t see an industrious arachnid capable of building intricate webs, I see a human body part rotting from the inside thanks to the bite of a brown recluse. DO NOT GOOGLE THAT.
But as I have previously done on this here website, I decided to take this opportunity to put myself through some therapy. Maybe if I spend the morning staring at a bunch of spider tattoos I will alleviate my fear, perhaps even eradicate it. So that’s what I did.
And you know what… it didn’t work. At all. I appreciate the artistry, of course, but it my fear increased tenfold while working on this. Right now I have to make the thumbnail and I really don’t want to because it’s so damn spidery. I’m quite literally crawling out of my skin while looking at Photoshop. It’s not great.
But you know what is great, at least for people who like spiders? This gallery of spider tattoos. I’m not going to look at it. I’m going to completely erase all the files from my computer seconds after hitting publish. Then I might even set my computer on fire, just in case the spirit of the spiders are living in there, biding their time, waiting to strike.
I sacrificed what was left of my sanity in order to bring this gallery of spider tattoos to you, I hope that it was worth it. Enjoy.
