In 2015, Ink Master season 6 introduced us to tattooer Katie McGowan. McGowan competed on the show with her mentor, Matt O’Baugh, finishing in 8th place. She later returned with O’Baugh to compete again on season 10, Shop Wars, with the pair completing in second at the live finale. And while fans were impressed by McGowan’s tattooing ability at the season 10 finale, all eyes were on her incredible physical transformation. Between wrapping filming and tattooing live in New York city, McGowan had lost an impressive amount of weight. And when she appeared on Ink Master: Angels in her home state of Arkansas, audiences saw even more progress. We caught up with the tattooer to learn why she decided to make a change and how being on television impacted her self-perception.
