25 Spectacular Angel and Devil Tattoos
Are you a perfect angel or a little devil?
For centuries, angels and devils have been portrayed in Biblical stories and folklore. They act as foils to one another, representing the good and bad aspects of humanity. Angels are often shown as the protectors and guides of humans, such as the Bible’s archangels Gabriel and Michael. Devils (or demons) on the other hand are the personification of evil and have been given names such as Satan, Lucifer or Beelzebub.
Angels and devils are frequently portrayed in classical art, with masters like Caravaggio and Raphael helping to establish their recognizable physical attributes. For example, angels are often portrayed as beautiful people or babies, with dove-like wings. Devils or demons, on the other hand, have been given more artistic leeway over the years and have been painted black, blue, grey or red. Often times, devils are made with animal features, such as horns, goat heads and tails.
Today, many tattoo collectors choose to embrace their angelic and/or devilish sides through body aryt. Tattoo artists from around the world have taken to creating these supernatural beings, whether their predominant style be black-and-grey, realism or American traditional. Take a look at some of our favorite angel and devil tattoos in the gallery below, then let us know your thoughts on these tattoos in the comments section on social media.
