40 ‘Hunter x Hunter’ Tattoos
Commemorating the return of Yoshihiro Togashi with tattoos inspired by the beloved manga.
It’s true, the man is back. After a four year hiatus, the one-and-only Yoshihiro Togashi has confirmed his return to the “Hunter x Hunter” manga via a series of cryptic pictures of panel sketches from his notebook posted on Twitter. Fans may already know, but the author of the series had to stop writing due to medical issues, specifically severe pain in his back. But when the artist took to Twitter, posting his sketches on a new account with zero pictures created in May 2022, the internet lost its mind. The initial tweet, captioned “4 more episodes for now,” amassed over one million likes in just one day. As fans eagerly await new chapters, some may choose to commemorate their love for the series with Hunter x Hunter tattoos.
While Togashi has since continued to post pictures of what he has been working on over the course of the past several months, he also shared in another tweet that his health complications still have not gone away. While many fans were overjoyed to see the return of the series, they are simply hoping for the health and well-being of the creator who has given us so much already more than anything, encouraging him to rest rather than push himself.
The show prevails as one of modern anime’s most beloved treasures for endless reasons. For one thing, it does an unprecedented number in effective world-building, constantly returning to minor characters and plot points from all different arcs of the series to unexpectedly alter the story’s trajectory. Beyond this, Togashi successfully creates a system of supernatural techniques called Nen, in which users can manipulate their life energy in order to render godlike superpowers. These powers present themselves in the most unique and inventive of ways – take Killua’s ability to manipulate electricity, or Gon’s ability to add deadly force to his combative fighting style. More apparent than anything, however, has to be the show’s unmatched ability to break and heal hearts with its most profound character arcs, sentiments of never giving up, and the utmost wholesome friendship between the show’s two youngest protagonists. Fans of the series might express their love through Hunter x Hunter tattoos.
There’s no telling when the series will reach its conclusion, as it’s all up to the mastermind whose main concern is surviving and staying healthy right now. But while we pray for his safety and recovery, we can certainly adorn ourselves with bad-ass Hunter x Hunter tattoos from some of the most OP characters and memorable stills from the manga and equally stunning anime.
