Today’s skull of the day is brought to you by Piotr Deadi Dedel. Dedel is a highly talented tattoo artist based at Kamil Tattoos in London. Originally from Poland, Dedel’s move to the United Kingdom has helped broaden his clientele and expand the horizons for his surrealist style. As Dedel works in both color and black and grey, his surrealism is rooted in both design as well as intricate shading and color palettes.
Take a look at today’s pick, a finely polished skull piece that’s a tad bit tamer than most of Dedel’s work, though of equally high quality. We love the bio-organic embellishments that read like a modern twist on old school filigree designs added to the skull making the piece pop. Without this addition the piece could feel a bit too minimal, however Dedel’s keen eye went the extra mile to round the piece out with these fun accents.
The skull itself is a beautiful creation, too. With it’s beautifully saturated, deep blacks filling out the eye sockets, the soft grey tones of the cranium come off smooth and skillfully textured to the viewer’s eye. The brightened highlights around the skull’s forehead and nasal area emphasize both the deep eyes as well as the implied third dimension of this two dimensional piece. Needless to say, Dedel never fails to impress us.
