Today’s skull of the day is this beautiful skull and flower thigh piece. The piece features a classic, almost illustrative, skull amid a collection of highlight pieces. The color saturation and contrasts that make up the red rose draw the eye to the top of the tattoo whereas the bright pop of robin’s egg blue in the background bring the view back to the dull, yet well applied, coloring of the skull itself. To really amp this piece up, the artist chose to enhance it by creating an implied frame. Framing tattoos have become quite the trend recently, so using intricate patterns of filigree to create a frame-like structure around the skull really pulls this piece in together.
