Australian artist Guido van Helten has turned entire cities into picture albums thanks to his enormous murals. Van Helten has a style that brings to mind old photos from an era long before the invention of camera phones or selfies. The gigantic portraits are placed on buildings, often with white backgrounds, where they keep watch over the town surrounding them. Some of van Helten’s most impressive work was done in Greenland and Iceland—areas where the bland architecture could really use a bit of livening up. Check out this gallery of some of our favorite murals by the very talented Guido van Helten.
