Kelly Osbourne Honors Joan Rivers
Kelly Osbourne gets a meaningful tribute tattoo by Mark Mahoney to honor the late Joan Rivers. Discover the significance behind her new ink.
Kelly Osbourne took a seat in Mark Mahoney’s chair in late October to honor her Fashion Police boss and beloved friend, Joan Rivers. Osbourne posted to Instagram a white ink bumblebee with a heartfelt caption, “the bee was a creature that defied and beat the odds, a miracle. Thank you [Joan] for being my miracle.” A very sweet tribute to the late comedic legend after passing on September 4, 2014. In 2010, Kelly Osbourne told Anderson Cooper that she regrets most of her tattoos (and she has quite a few) – likely that won’t be the case with her new ink by Mahoney at his famed Shamrock Social Club.
Joan Rivers, known for her sharp wit and pioneering work in comedy, passed away on September 4, 2014. Her loss was felt deeply across the entertainment industry, but perhaps nowhere more so than by those who worked closely with her, like Kelly Osbourne. By getting this tattoo, Osbourne has found a permanent way to keep Rivers’ memory alive, a gesture that speaks volumes about their relationship.
This isn’t the first time Osbourne has made headlines with her tattoos. In 2010, during an interview with Anderson Cooper, she confessed that she regrets most of her tattoos, which number quite a few. She humorously mentioned that many of her tattoos were impulsive decisions made in her younger years, reflecting her changing tastes and personal growth. However, the bumblebee tattoo, inked by Mahoney at his famed Shamrock Social Club, is likely an exception. Given the personal significance and the circumstances under which she got it, it’s a piece of art that she will cherish for a lifetime.
