Ami James Charity Event

“Brick by Brick” Children’s Shelter partners up with renowned tattoo artist Ami James and Global Humanitaria to construct a safe haven for children who have been victimized by sexual exploitation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Renowned tattoo artist Ami James has teamed up with Global Humanitaria in an effort to raise money to construct a children’s shelter in Cambodia. The “Brick by Brick” Children’s Shelter Indiegogo Campaign is looking to construct a safe haven for children who have been victimized by sexual exploitation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

“I knew as soon as they told me what they were working toward that I wanted to be a part of such an amazing cause,” James said.

The fundraiser is being held at Ami’s Wooster Street Social Club and will feature a tattoo demonstration by James, a cocktail reception and the debut of a photo exhibit entitled “Stolen Childhood, Shattered Lives.”

“I am a father of two girls, and though as a father you always want to make everything right for your children, you quickly learn that is not as easy as you hope,” James said. “So in a way I think this is an opportunity for me to help make the world safer for many little girls out there.”

Global Humanitaria’s PROTECT Program has spent 10 years trying to bring “sex tourists” to justice and to protect children across the world. The proposed shelter in Phnom Penh will be named “Bunni and Som’s House” after two children who were saved by the program.

Since the PROTECT program began they have rescued 650 children and had 276 sex offenders arrested. They have also given valuable information to over 6,000 at risk children to help them avoid the horror of sexual exploitation.

James and Global Humanitaria are both very confident that “Bunni and Som’s House” will merely be the first of many safe-havens for children.

“(The ‘Brick by Brick’ Children’s Shelter Campaign) is a campaign to raise money to build a shelter for children to have a safe place to rehabilitate when they are removed from these horrible situations,” James said. “We are starting with the goal to build one shelter but the idea is to continue to raise money so we can build many more and protect many more in the near future.”

Andres Torres, the founder of Global Humanitaria, will remember Friday night’s event for the rest of his life as James is planning on tattooing a newly designed logo on Torres.
