5 Celebrities Who Got Their First Tattoos After 40

Better late than never for these famous tattoo enthusiasts

These days, almost every twenty-something celebrity has at least one tattoo. It’s very common for Hollywood stars to get their first tattoos while they’re still teens or in their early twenties, however, some public figures waited decades for their first appointment with an artist. Take a look at five celebrities who waited until after their 40th birthdays for a tattoo and let us know your thoughts on their long-awaited ink in the comments section on Facebook.

Bryan Cranston

Age of First Tattoo: 57 (2013)

In 2013, Bryan Cranston got his first tattoo to commemorate the wrap of his television show Breaking Bad. The tattoo is the AMC show’s logo and got tattooed alongside his co-star Aaron Paul.

Sir Ian McKellen

Age of First Tattoo: 62 (2001)

In 2001, McKellen and his Lord of the Rings co-stars, including Elijah Woods, Viggo Mortensen, and Orlando Bloom, got tattoos to commemorate the filming of the first movie in the trilogy. McKellen’s tattoo is the number ‘nine’ in Elvish, to symbolize the nine members of the fellowship.

Jennifer Aniston

Age of First Tattoo: 42 (2011)

In 2011, Aniston got her one and only tattoo, which is the name of her dog who passed away on her right foot. Only time will tell if the now 50-year-old actress decides to get another piece or if she’s a “one and done” type of gal.

Michael J Fox

Age of First Tattoo: 57 (2019)

In January of 2019, Back to the Future star Fox got his first tattoo by Mr. K at the shop Bang Bang NYC. The piece is a fine-line sea turtle and it commemorates a special moment the actor had while scuba diving.

Neil Patrick Harris

Age of First Tattoo: 42 (2017)

After filming the Netflix show A Series of Unfortunate Events, actor Patrick Harris got a tattoo homage for his role as Count Olaf.

What do you think of these celebrities and their first tattoos? Let us know your thoughts on this story in the comments section.
