Today’s skull of the day is good enough to eat! Check out this amazing cupcake by tattoo artist Phil Garcia. Garcia is well known for his amazing skull tattoos, consistently having his work featured for our skull of the day picks. But that’s why we love him! His skulls are always so original, innovative, and completely different from the ones he’s done before.
Today’s pick is delightfully morbid (and probably just inspired a bunch of people’s Halloween deserts). We love the realistic details added to this chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting as it swirls up to reveal the human skull adorning it. Garcia always likes to amp up his designs, so instead of just putting a skull on top of a pastry, he chose to gore it up a bit and douse it in blood.
The addition of the blood is actually what makes this piece so interesting to look at. Apart from the bright red dripping down this devilish dessert, many of the colors used are very muted, so adding that burst of bright red really packs a visual punch and adds to the horrifying nature within this fun design. When it comes to skull tattoos, Garcia never disappoints! So who is ready to order a fresh batch of cupcakes now?
