Thinking about getting a new tattoo but not sure if you’re going to like the placement? Or maybe you are thinking about getting your very first tattoo and are still unsure if you could commit. Since getting a tattoo is an incredibly permanent thing, here at INKED we encourage people to know they are ready for whatever new tattoo they get. For those of us who need to feel out what a new tattoo might look like on our bodies first, there’s a brand new product that just might help you out. Say hello to Jagua tattoo gel.
Jagua is not a permanent body alteration, instead it is a pigmented gel that will leave a design on your skin in jet black for about 10 to 15 days. As traditional henna tattoos create more of a brownish pigment to your skin and newer forms of black henna can actually damage your skin, Jagua is a natural dye made from Genipa Americana fruit that still comes out crisp and dark without harming your skin.
So here’s how it works: Jagua comes in tubes with different applicator caps to make designing your own pieces easy. After you place the design on, let the gel harden and then peel it off. As the ink sinks in, it will darken to the color black found in most black tattoo inks. And tada! You’ve got a cool custom tattoo on your skin for up to two weeks!
The cool thing about Jagua is that it will help give you a more authentic view at what your body will look like with some new ink. We recommend trying this out in case you want to go under the needle with more visible areas of your body. Say you finally want to get your hands or neck tattooed, try a product like Jagua out first to see if you really want to have “B-U-R-R-I-T-O-S” inked on your knuckles forever. And even if you are not entirely set on getting inked in those visible places, it’s at least fun to see what the future possibilities could be for a week or two.
