It wasn’t long ago that model Ireland Baldwin debuted a David Bowie portrait at New York Fashion Week, but now she has some new ink to add to her growing collection.
On Sunday, Baldwin visited Jon Boy at West 4 Tattoo in New York to get a tattoo dedicated to her father, actor Alec Baldwin. Jon Boy, who has not only tattooed Ireland and her cousin Hailey Baldwin but also fellow model Kendall Jenner, gave Ireland a small script tattoo reading écureuil on her side of her wrist. The word is the French word for squirrel and it is a pet name that Ireland was given by her father.
The Baldwin father-daughter pair has been on shaky terms in the past, with the infamous voicemail where Alec Baldwin called his daughter a “rude little pig” back in 2007. Yet today they have moved past their differences and are stronger than ever. They’ve even bonded over Ireland’s tattoos, when a month ago Alec came along for the ride when Ireland got her Bowie tattoo by Jon Boy back in September.
This visit to the tattoo shop was especially memorable for Ireland and her artist because she gave Jon Boy a tattoo of her own. Ireland took over the tattoo machine and gave her artist a small “LA” tattoo on his wrist. Ireland became the latest celebrity to turn the tables on a tattoo artist, as both Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have given celebrity artist Bang Bang some custom ink. And while it is never recommended to receive a tattoo from someone who is not a professional, both Jon Boy and Bang Bang get to walk around with permanent autographs from their favorite famous friends.
