Dumblonde Gets Tattooed At The Guest Spot (Inked’s Celebrity Studio)

Guest Spot, meet Dumblonde. Dumblonde, meet the Guest Spot.

Don’t let the name fool you. Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex are building new bridges and burning old ones as they reveal their new girl group, Dumblonde. The former Danity Kane band mates have transitioned from their days on Diddy’s “Making the Band” and are proud to be behind every aspect of their new music—so proud they showed up to Inked‘s tattoo studio, the Guest Spot, to have Arlo DiCristina ink “Dumblonde” on their arms in Morse code. “It’s the end of an era and the start of a new one,” Aubrey says.

Aubrey is no stranger to the needle (she already has a number of tiny tattoos, most of which Arlo touched up), so she calmed Shannon’s first-time jitters, “We’ve been through way worse pain.”

The studio’s music changed from their new hit “Dreamsicle” to Lenny Kravitz’s “American Woman,” and just like that, Shannon lost her tattoo virginity, twice.

Dumblonde welcomes all sorts of irony, making them the latest to capitalize on misconceptions about women. We can’t think of two hotter blondes to blast the age-old stereotype that comes with platinum hair dye—and they’ve got the brains to back it.

Be it performing, styling, directing, editing, or talking business, Dumblonde is a team of many talents. Their indie pop sound is already selling out shows around the country. “We weren’t allowed to make decisions in the last situation,” Aubrey told Inked.

Shannon followed that up in saying, “But we’re grateful for the past. If we didn’t go through what we went through, we never would have this.”

This being the opportunity to create without allowing “emotions to rule their business.” They gathered a team of “hungry artists who wanted to live outside the box,” complete with R8dio, Candice Pillay, and Dem Jointz. Their bold (and very sexy) videos prove the collaboration a success. “We’re actually executing the plan, the brand, the vision,” Shannon says.

It’s not easy to blend business with pleasure, but the two seem to have a very pretty good handle on things. Both agree Aubrey is more decisive and business minded, “I know what I want and when I want it,” she says. Shannon is “more compassionate and tries to balance all sides.” Still, Shannon promises she’s a little bit of a badass, “I ride horses, I drink whiskey, I shoot guns.” No doubt the whiskey in her red Solo cup eased the pain of her new rib tattoo, a cross.

After hanging out at the Guest Spot with the Inked team and surrealism king Arlo DiCristina, the bombshells remind us of one stereotype they’ll never shake: blondes definitely have more fun.
