Johnny Manziel Gets Massive Arm Tattoo Inked During Flight

Johnny Manziel has always been a fan of Drake, but it was Justin Bieber the former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns was emulating when he got a gigantic tattoo inked on his arm during a flight earlier this week. After being rumored to be missing in New York City over the weekend, Manziel, nicknamed Johnny Football, finally reemerged on Tuesday, taking to social media to show off a massive tattoo in the process of being inked on his right forearm.

It was on the evening of Tuesday, May 31, that Johnny Manziel decided to reveal his latest artwork, posting a photo on Instagram of himself reclining in a seat aboard a private jet while a tattoo artist works on his right arm. The artist in the photo is Rafael Valdez, based out of Los Angeles, New York and Florida, and if you want to get an idea of his style, his Instagram bio says, “I am an acquired taste. Don’t like me? Acquire some taste.” That pretty much says it all. As for the design of this massive tattoo, it remains a mystery, but the artwork is located just below the tattoo of the Eye of Providence, or the all-seeing eye of God, the quarterback first revealed last month.

One of the first celebrities to get inked aboard a plane was Justin Bieber, and now Manziel has joined the mile-high tattoo club as well. While Johnny turned to Valdez for his new ink, Justin’s in-flight tattoo was done by celebrity tattoo artist Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy, who inked a large cross in the center of Justin’s chest on a private jet heading from Panama to Canada, turbulence be damned. And 30,000 feet in the air isn’t even the weirdest place Bang Bang has done a tattoo—he also gave his buddy some fresh ink at the top of the Empire State Building in 2015. We love this new trend of people getting inked in places very far from the tattoo shop.

This new half-sleeve tattoo for Johnny Manziel comes just a couple of months after the beleaguered 23-year-old was criticized for getting a Rolex logo and his birthdate tattooed on his hand. Manziel has several other permanent pieces scattered across his body, including a moustache tattoo on his index finger, a “Proverbs” tattoo on his chest and an “OVO” and owl tattoo dedicated to Drake’s October’s Very Own record label.
