There is something very alluring about dark art. No, not the evil magic you find in fantasy novels like Harry Potter, but real macabre, gothic, and horror-style works of art by artists fascinated with those subject matters. In this episode of Fresh Paint, Sullen TV wanted to take a look into the art and work ethic of painter and designer, Anthony Clarkson. Nowadays, Clarkson is best known for his gallery shows and exhibitions at Thinkspace Gallery in California, however, his artistic background goes much further back than the amazing pieces he’s become known for. Initially pursuing a career in designing album artwork for various metal bands, Clarkson would eventually stumble upon group shows at what grew into the Thinkspace Gallery today. His art showcases influences from H.R. Giger, Dali, and modern day surrealism to create an exceptionally daring and whimsical aesthetic in the alternative art world. Take a look at this video below to learn more on how Clarkson got his start, where he draws inspiration from, and, of course, to watch him bring to life an acrylic painting for his upcoming art show, The Withering, on display at Thinkspace Gallery from February 28th through March 21st.
