It’s not uncommon for someone to capture someone’s beauty with the permanence of a tattoo. It’s less common when that someone’s beauty seems to be as permanent as that ink like in Dolly Parton’s case. Today’s Tattoo of the Day is this incredible portrait that celebrates the timeless and eternal exquisiteness of the eight-time Grammy Award-winner and country music legend Dolly Parton, by Adam Hays from Red Rocket Tattoo NYC.

Hays is an “illustrative traditional artist” who has been tattooing for more than a decade. Before transplanting to New York City, he got his start at a shop in College Station, Texas near one of the biggest universities in the state—Texas A&M. So we’re sure his knowledge of Dolly Parton extends beyond this tattoo. True to his traditional roots, Hays’s portfolio still gets pretty diverse as he lets his obsession with comic books influence his style. “I like traditional tattoo imagery done in a more illustrative style, be it black-and-gray or color.”

Getting someone’s image tattooed on you can be pretty risky—especially if that person is a celebrity—but Dolly Parton will always be a safe bet. That guy who ran off with Jolene has probably really been feeling like a real idiot over the last four decades.
