Superstar model/actress Cara Delevingne recently posed nude for anti-poaching charity I’m Not A Trophy to help raise awareness for many endangered species, including Delvingne’s spirit animal the African Lion. Ever since she received a remarkable lion tattoo on her finger from Bang Bang we have closely associated the model with the big cat. With all that hair she does sort of resemble the Queen of the Jungle, don’t you think?
For these photos jungle scenes of endangered animals were superimposed over Delevingne’s photos giving the impression that she was covered with tattoos. Arno Elias is the artist/photographer behind the visually striking photos (and also the founder of I’m Not A Trophy) that pair the gorgeous Delevingne with a vast array of beautiful animals including lions, gorillas, Grevy’s zebras and leopards. If this was a mere art project it would still be noteworthy, but considering that the campaign was put together for altruistic reasons it is even more impressive.
The recently launched I’m Not A Trophy wants to bring attention to the heartbreaking fact that in just the last 50 years millions of wild animals have perished from the Earth at the hands of poaching. If something is not done soon many of these animals will be extinct within a generation or two, if not sooner. For example, the world’s population of elephants has shrunk by 64% in just the last 10 years due to rampant poaching; these remarkable creatures are being hunted to the brink of extinction entirely because of their ivory tusks. The goal of I’m Not a Trophy is to spur people into action to make sure that these animals continue to exist.
“I’m Not A Trophy believes in creating a visually unique campaign and by captivating an audience we can help educate the younger generation and attract people to the cause,” reads the organization’s mission statement. “I’m Not A Trophy is a platform to create awareness through an artistic approach on how to talk about conservation.”
Elias and Delevingne have definitely caught our attention, that’s for sure. Learn more about I’m Not A Trophy by visiting their website here.
