75 Tattoos of the Top Action Movies of All Time
What's your favorite action movie?
While dramas and period pieces win Academy Awards, action movies bring in the big bucks at the box office. Action has been a staple movie genre for decades and it generally involves a protagonist thrust into a series of adventures involving fights, chases, rescues and other life-threatening situations. The first true action film debuted in 1903 and was titled “The Great Train Robbery.” Over time, action has evolved to include a myriad of subgenres such as Westerns, detective stories, urban crime dramas, science fiction, spy movies, and martial arts films. Fans show their dedication to these thrilling films through action movie tattoos, celebrating their favorite heroes and iconic moments from the genre.
Many notable actors have made impressive contributions to the action genre. This includes Bruce Lee, Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Keanu Reeves, Matt Damon and Sylvester Stallone. In recent years, many female actors have also earned acclaim as action protagonists, in large part thanks to the Marvel and DC cinematic universes. This includes Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson, Gal Gadot and Elizabeth Olsen.
Today, action continues to grow by leaps and bounds every single year.
