Ashley Graham Had A Needle-Filled Baby Shower
If your baby shower doesn't offer tattoos, don't invite us
Baby showers are the secret bane of most people’s existence- they suck. You sit in a circle guessing the weight of a baby you know little-to-nothing about and use string to estimate how round an eight month pregnant woman has gotten during her pregnancy, which doesn’t seem fun for anyone. Most people greet a baby shower invite with a groan, which is exactly what Graham wanted to avoid.
Graham shared on The Tonight Show that she decided to have a tattoo centered, co-ed baby shower where guests were able to get tattoos and piercings instead of “sniffing diapers.” Guests also decorated onesies which Graham then donated to children and families in need.
Graham didn’t share if she participated in the inking herself, but she isn’t a stranger to tattoos or piercings. She has two small tattoos of her own as well as a lot of piercing decorating her lobes.
The idea of kids being around tattoo art is becoming increasingly popular- recently a mom made her son his very own play tattoo shop for a less traditional play house. Stars like Chrissy Teigen, Busy Philips, and even athletes like Steph Curry are getting tattoos to celebrate their children and the journey of parenthood, making it way more common to see parents with tattoos.
Graham is a model who focuses on body positivity and inclusion in high-street fashion. She has a brand called Swimsuits for All, and was recently featured on the cover of Vogue. She is married to photographer Justin Ervin and this will be the couple’s first child.
Would you be down for a tattoo-giving baby shower?
