Chris Evans Shows Off His Tattoos

Fans of Captain America were treated to a rare peek at the many tattoos covering his torso.

Captain America always struck us as far too wholesome to get a tattoo. Sure, a lot of soldiers came home from World War II with their arms adorned with eagles, flags and pin-up models, but that never seemed to be Cap’s style. Chris Evans, the man who portrayed Captain America on screen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has a style of his own. Fans were taken aback earlier this week when the “Avengers” star posted photos to Instagram revealing many tattoos on his torso.

While fans have admired Evans’ physique for years—who can forget America’s Ass?—this is one of the first opportunities fans have had to see the actor’s tattoo collection. Unlike the last time Evans was in the news for showing off part of his anatomy, the tattoo reveal was clearly done on purpose.

Evans hasn’t flaunted his ink often, but those who have been paying attention have known about at least one of his tattoos for quite some time. Back in 2018, Robert Downey Jr. told Entertainment Weekly about a bonding experience between the actors.

“Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo,” Downey Jr., 55, told Entertainment Weekly. “And the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo. It was (Scarlett) Johansson’s idea, and she and (Chris) Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did (Jeremy) Renner, and then we just bullied (Chris) Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it.”

The one tattoo that we can make out from the photo is the traditional-style eagle on Evans’ pec. Like all good traditional tattoos, this is a tattoo that looks badass from halfway down the street. Hopefully, we get a better look at the rest of his ink one of these days.
