Deadly Demon Slayer Tattoos
Check out these killer tattoos from the incredibly popular anime
Now that Season 2 of “Demon Slayer” has wrapped up, we are left to idle in our woes as one of the most phenomenal animes of the past decade preps for its next season, aimed to launch in mid 2023. The series, based on the manga authored and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge, quickly won the hearts of fans as it burst onto the scene in spring 2019. Over the past three years, the show has become one of the highest grossing media franchises of all time. The production company, Ufotable, made the bold decision of taking the series to theaters, releasing the first half of Season 2 as its own feature-length film, “Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train” in 2020. The decision paid off, as the film ended up surpassing Studio Ghibli’s “Spirited Away” as the highest-grossing film in the history of Japan.
Taking place in Japan’s Taishō era, the manga follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a hardworking teenager who discovers that his family has been slaughtered by a ruthless demon, and that his little sister Nezuko was also turned into a demon. Thus, he embarks on the path to becoming a demon slayer in order to turn her back into a human.
Though the anime is still in its early seasons, many fans are quick to deem it an all-time favorite, and for good reason. It is an extremely well-executed action shounen, with no shortage of goofy and loveable characters as well as ones with deeply complex backstories and transformations. Tanjiro and company are an unstoppable force as is, but the end of Season 1 also introduced us to the Hashira, the most powerful figures in the Demon Slayer Corps, each equipped with their own unique styles and capabilities. Endless discourse can be had as to what Hashira you are based on your zodiac or personality type, and would probably make for a dazzling piece of ink, too.
Perhaps the thing people love the most about the anime is its spectacular animation throughout vivid fight sequences and depictions of the Japanese landscape. From Zenitsu’s blinding bolts of lightning while fighting the Spider Demon, to the perplexing expanse of the demon dimension ruled by Muzan Kitbutsuji, to Tanjiro’s thrilling battle amidst flaming debris with an Upper Moon Six, Demon Slayer is one of the most visually stunning animes to date. It’s no wonder fans love getting art from the show tattooed, we’ve compiled many of the most gorgeous examples below. In the words of Kyōjurō Rengoku, “set your hearts ablaze” with these fiery masterpieces from the series.
