TikTok’s Hype House Gets Tatted Up
Artist Isaac Pelayo talks inking up the social media stars
It doesn’t take a reality television show to get a group of good looking young people living under one roof. Today, all it takes is social media. The Hype House is a Los Angeles mansion that’s home to a collective of TikTok influencers. The house has approximately 20 members, each with a prominent social media following. The Hype House was founded by Chase Hudson, Thomas Petrou, Daisy Keech, Alex Warren and Kouvr Annon. The Hype House can be compared to other popular social media groups, including David Dobrik’s Vlog Squad and Jake Paul’s Team 10. The Hype House has 16.1 million followers on TikTok and most of their members have several million followers on the platform.
On June 10th, painter and tattoo artist, Isaac Pelayo visited The Hype House to ink some of the TikTok stars. Pelayo primarily focuses on his painting work, but tattoos on the side as a personal hobby. “Well I started off tattooing @jadenhossler for his first music video COMATOSE, after that his former group @swayla took notice fairly quickly and soon I tattooed all of them,” Pelayo shares.
“They’re awesome, smart, young entrepreneurs taking social media by storm. The relationship Jaden and I have built over the past 6 months has grown. He knows I’ll be able to bring his vision to life on skin. Our appointments are totally sporadic. Often he’ll have a mix of ideas and I just puzzle them together. Soon after filling up his whole arm other social media influencers started to hit me up for work.”
“Just the other night I went over to The Hype House to tattoo @lilhuddy and @nickaustin giving them their first pieces. I was impressed at the level of confidence. Usually first timers are nervous but these guys are all for it. That makes my job easier and allows me to work more confidently.”
“It’s funny, prior to tattooing Jaden I hadn’t really done any tattoos during the past year. Once he hit me up it spiraled from there. Though I’ve been tattooing for 9 years now. I focus more on my fine art and music however, I enjoy a great client and a good story to tell.”
