25 Duck Tattoos That Aren’t Lame

Don't be a quack, check out these duck tattoos!

In the last few weeks, you’ve probably heard the phrase “lame duck” thrown around in conversation and on the news. If you’re not familiar with this term, it refers to a president during their final period in office as they await their successor who’s been elected. Right now, Donald Trump is the current lame duck in question, as America is awaiting his concession to president-elect Joe Biden.

But enough with the politics, let’s talk ducks. Of course, not all ducks are lame, in fact some of them are pretty great. There are 180 known species of ducks, with one of the most popular being the mallard. Mallards are found throughout the Americas, Eurosiberia and North Africa, and were later introduced to parts of South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Male mallards are called drakes and are known for their glossy green feathered heads. Female mallards, on the other hand, are called hens and are known for their spotted brown feathers. Another popular duck breed is the domestic duck, which is raised for meat, eggs and down. Some of these ducks are also kept as pets and for show. The goose is the cousin of the duck and are known for being larger, having longer necks and longer legs than ducks.

Many ducks have made a positive impression on popular culture, notably Disney’s Donald Duck, Warner Bros.’ Daffy Duck and the Aflac Duck—who’s the mascot for the insurance company. In honor of all of the not so lame ducks out there, take a look at 25 of our favorite duck tattoos from talented artists around the world. Then let us know your favorite cartoon duck in the comments section on social media.
