Take a Peek at the Brand New Joker Movie Trailer
Heath Ledger, Jared Leto, or Joaquin Phoenix—Who's the best Joker?
First introduced on April 25th, 1940 Joker is the most infamous villain in the DC Comics Universe. In 1966, actor Cesar Romero brought Joker to life in the Batman television series and reprised the role for a feature film. Over twenty years later, Jack Nicholson was cast in Tim Burton’s Batman. By 2018, Christopher Nolan has a new face for Joker, that, of course, being Heath Ledger. Then in 2016, Suicide Squad gave Joker a tattooed makeover and Jared Leto took over the role. Last, but not least, in 2019 the iconic villain has finally earned his own film and this time, the lead has gone to none other than Joaquin Phoenix.
Joker was first confirmed in August of 2017 and in July of 2018 Phoenix was officially cast in the role. In the film, Phoenix plays a failed stand-up comedian named Arthur Fleck who is ultimately driven insane by Gotham City. Initially, Leonardo DiCaprio was considered for the role, however, he ended up turning down the part. Other actors in the film include Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, and Dante Pereira-Olson as a young Bruce Wayne.
