Hafthor Bjornsson Loses 100 Pounds and Somehow Remains Terrifyingly Massive
The World's Strongest Man and former "Game of Thrones" star shed weight but not an ounce of muscle in preparation for his fight with Eddie Hall.
It was his massive size that brought Hafthor Bjornsson into the limelight. The Icelandic strongman was once tipping the scales at over 400 pounds, a weight that seemed to make sense given his mammoth muscles and nearly 7-foot-tall frame. It did not seem possible for Bjornsson to drop weight without losing at least some of the menacing presence that made him a star as Ser Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on “Game of Thrones.” My god were we wrong, just like Oberlyn Martell was by thinking he had finished him off.
If anything, Hafthor Bjornsson looks even more intimidating without the extra weight. He is absolutely shredded. I bet you’re wondering, why the weight loss? We’re sure there are myriad reasons for the lifestyle choice, but his upcoming bout with rival strongman Eddie Hall is undoubtedly serving as motivation.
Bjornsson and Hall have been dancing around each other—metaphorically speaking, but we’d definitely pay to see the two boogaloo together—for years leading up to the fight. They’ve had beef for as long as we can remember, with Hall talking some shit in the pages of Inked Magazine.
“At the end of the day, we’re both 350-plus pounds of body weight and we fucking hate each other,” Hall told us. “So there’s only one way this is going to end—knockout.”
The fight has been billed “The Heaviest Boxing Match in History,” but even with Bjornsson’s drastic weight change this will likely still be true. These gents are still frickin’ enormous. There is no way this fight isn’t going to be epic.
Bjornsson has been documenting his training extensively on his YouTube channel, but it’s still pretty striking to see the photos of his transformation next to each other.
We can’t wait to see the two behemoths face off against each other, even if Hafthor has cut down to being only a Quarterthor.
