The majority of tattoo artists tend to find a style that works best for them and they stick with it. For example, if you become known for color realism (or black-and-grey or American Traditional) you’ll tend to stick with color realism for most of your work. Perhaps you’ll stray toward other styles from time-to-time, but it is almost unheard of to mix two different styles within one tattoo. These two artists have taken that convention and thrown it out the window. John Barrett and Varo are doing work unlike any other that we’ve seen by mixing elements of illustrative or American Traditional and combining them with realism. The result is a bunch of tattoos that have you rubbing your eyes wondering if they are real. Marvel at their work and remember their names, this tattoo style remix may be the next big thing in tattooing.
