The way that tattoos are able to help people get through dark times can be truly astounding. Everyone loves the tattoos that they have gotten out of a love of art or just for fun but there is something extra special about ink that holds a special meaning. Today’s Inked Girl of the Day, Allyson Olivia, knows both types of tattoos very well. While a great deal of her work has mostly aesthetic value—the sick winged backpiece and horror sleeve she is working on—its the two tattoos that have greater emotional value that she lists as her favorites. “One [of my favorites] is the silhouette of my grandparents that is tattooed on my calf,” Allyson explains. “It’s special because it is the same picture I had of them sitting in my living room growing up.” Allyson’s other favorite is the Wonder Woman symbol she had inked before going through treatment for breast cancer. The treatment was successful and Allyson is now cancer free. It should go without saying that she is planning to get some ink to commemorate the achievement. Check out both of her Inked Girls galleries here and here. If you think you have what it takes to be our next Inked Girl of the Day submit your profile here.
