Tiger Tattoos to Bring in the Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year!

On February 1 we said goodbye to the ox and hello to the tiger as we brought in the Lunar New Year! At Inked, we love all animals, but we’d be lying if we didn’t say that the tiger holds a special place in our collective heart. Not only are the sleek felines the perfect combination of gorgeous and fearsome, but they make amazing subject matter for tattoos.

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the Year of the Tiger than to grab some of your loved ones, hit the tattoo shop and get some sick tiger tattoos before feasting on dumplings in order to bring wealth in the coming year.

People who are born in the Year of the Tiger are known for their bravery and natural leadership skills. As such, they are always in search of adventure and thrills. These are the type of people who are willing to take on any and every challenge that comes their way. Some of the most famous folks to be born during the Year of the Tiger are Lady Gaga, Marilyn Monroe, Bill Murray, Queen Elizabeth II and Fidel Castro. There’s a lot of thrill-seeking and leadership in that streak (which is what you call a group of tigers).

This year is specifically the year of the Water Tiger. There are twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac and each animal is paired with one of the five elements (water, fire, metal, earth and wood). The last time we celebrated the Water Tiger was in 1962. Water moves in a downward and inward motion, as well as being symbolic of both wisdom and pliancy. Thusly a year of the Water Tiger can symbolize inner growth for people. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t need some time to work on themselves after the past couple of years?

Welcome to the Year of the Tiger! Seems like a perfect time to add a tiger to our tattoo collection, allow us to provide some inspiration.
