A coke and a smile!
With the rampant legalization of recreational cannabis use spreading across the United States, Canada and the United kingdom, it would take a dummy not to realize that soon the mega companies would jump on board..when the timing was right and all was “cool”.
Well, it also should not come to anyone surprise when one of the first of the “biggies” is Coca Cola. C’mon it was only about a century ago when Coca Cola was laced with actual cocaine. Word around Wall Street is that the Coca Cola bottling company is said to be in ‘serious talks’ to develop a cannabis-infused beverage.
The Atlanta-based company, which owns over 500 brands including Sprite, Fanta and Costa Coffee, is in advanced discussions with Canadian company Aurora Cannabis. Some companies have already started development with creating a beverage that will give its drinkers a buzz, while it is believed that Coca-Cola is interested in developing refreshments that are infused with cannabidiol, or otherwise known as CBD, the non-psychoactive chemical found in marijuana plants. The drink is being developed as something to ease inflammation, pain and cramping.
Sources from Bloomberg said, “They’re pretty advanced down the path. It’s going to be more of the ‘recovery drink’ category.” Although, Kent Landers, a spokesman from Coca-Cola, declined to comment.
However, an emailed statement to BNN Bloomberg stated: “Along with many others in the beverage industry, we are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world. The space is evolving quickly. No decisions have been made at this time.”
Hey, I just may go back to enjoying a can of soda no and again!
