Great Scott! Check Out These Back to the Future Tattoos
Celebrate the day Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled to 2015 to save the future.
In 1985, director Robert Zemeckis and screenwriter Bob Gale introduced audiences to “Back to the Future.” The film starred Michael J Fox as Marty McFly, a teenager who’s accidentally sent back to the year 1955 via a time-traveling DeLorean that was built by the eccentric scientist, Doc Brown. While in the year 1955, McFly meets his parents (who are teenagers at the time) and must ensure they get together so that his future is secured. The first film was a great success and received an Academy Award for Best Sound Effects editing.
Because of the success of the first film, “Back to the Future” earned a sequel, which premiered in theaters in 1989. For this film, instead of going back in time, McFly and Doc travel to the future, October 21st 2015. They do so in order to save the fate of the McFly family and along the way, their mission is sidetracked by the series’ villain—Biff Tannen.
October 21st 2015 was chosen as the date by the film’s writers because it was the date that the Chicago Cubs could have theoretically won the World Series. Unfortunately, 2015’s World Series was won by the Kansas City Royals, however, if they’d traveled to the year 2016, they would have been spot on. In 2016, the Cubs clenched the World Series against the Cleveland Indians in a 4-3 win—making it the team’s first win since 1908.
