Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late Michael Jackson, keeps making the news with her tattoo choices. It was only a month ago that we took note when Paris posted a picture of a tattoo reading “Queen of Pop,” a clear reference to her father’s nickname. This second tribute piece is a far more intricate tattoo modeled after the cover of Michael’s iconic album Dangerous.
For this second inking Paris returned to Hollywood’s Timeless Ink to visit tattoo artist Justin Lewis. Lewis also shared a picture of the piece on his social media along with the note that the piece is still a work in progress one session away from completion. We can’t wait to see what the finished product looks like.
It’s refreshing to see how Paris has been using her budding tattoo collection as a way to pay tribute to her late father. Grieving is difficult enough as a young person, doing so in the public eye makes it incredibly more trying. Each of her tattoos has served as a touching tribute to the father she lost far too early and one can’t help but feel the gravity when gazing upon them.
Alongside the most recent tattoo Paris used both a poignant quote from her father and some of her own words to describe her ink. “‘The meaning of life is contained in every single expression of life,'” Paris wrote. “‘It is present in the infinity of forms and phenomena that exist in all of creation.’ Never forget your roots, and always be proud of where you came from.”
Since turning 18-years-old Paris has been spending a lot of time in the tattoo shop. In addition to the two aforementioned pieces Paris had a lotus flower tattooed on her wrist by Hillary Santagata. The tattoo is similar to her other ink because it also pays tribute to a family member that has passed—her grandmother Katherine.
So many 18-year-olds rush out to get tattooed the minute they are legal and often make rash and ridiculous choices. There is an entire cottage industry of laser removal and cover up specialists for that very reason. That’s why we applaud Paris for bucking this trend and getting thoughtful tattoos that she will likely never regret. We look forward to seeing her collection grow in the coming years.
