These Dog Tattoos Are Sure to Win Best of Show
Before watching The National Dog Show enjoy these tattoos of some very good boys
Thanksgiving is chockful of traditions. Pretty much every family has found a way to put their own stamp on the holiday. For my family, Thanksgiving always started off in the exact same way—watching the Macy’s parade and The National Dog Show as we got everything ready for the big meal.
While I’m most definitely a dog person, I’m not a dog show person. I find the pomp and circumstance surrounding the event to be a little offputting. Not to mention how perfectly groomed and bred each dog is. The obedience shown by the canine contestants is impressive. I know that it takes a hell of a lot of work to get the pups to prance around the stage and do exactly what they are told, and I appreciate that, but who really wants their dog to be so perfect?
All of my favorite dogs are mutts with enormous personalities. They’re the kind of dogs that bark at everything, the type of dogs that consistently find a way to trick me into giving them the comfy seat on the couch. The dogs I love are the ones that find a way to sneak up onto the counter and snag the Thanksgiving turkey while the stupid humans are too busy watching the pristine Bichon Frise being appraised by a trio of judges.
One gets the impression that the dogs that compete in the dog show have never actually had the chance to be a dog. They’ve never rolled around in the mud at the dog park, they’ve never had to endure the tomato juice shower that comes after getting a little too close to a skunk.
We can guarantee that the dogs in the following gallery have gotten into some trouble. They’ve chewed things they weren’t supposed to and you can be damn sure they’ve refused to stop barking at squirrels. These are pets, not show dogs. More than anything, you know that these pups were showered with love their entire lives. After all, there is no better way to pay tribute to a loved one than getting a tattoo in their honor.
We would be remiss if we didn’t end this article with the greatest dog of them all. We are, of course, talking about the only dog to have a cryptocurrency launched in their name. DOGE. Such tattoo, wow, very doge.
