Rick Griffin Gets Loco
Introducing the new limited-edition collection from California Locos celebrating legendary artist Rick Griffin
It’s impossible to image what the surf and skate world would look like without the art of Rick Griffin. Griffin’s imagery was seen everywhere from concert posters for the Grateful Dead to his comic strips in the pages of Surfer Magazine. Chances are you’ve seen his signature “flying eyeball” thousands of times. It’s been more than 30 years since Griffin passed away, but his art is still vibrant and vital today.
California Locos creative director Nano Nóbrega has curated a stunning collection of skate decks and apparel paying tribute to one of Southern California’s true artistic pioneers.
A collection of decks featuring Griffin’s Flying Eyeball, Backdoor, and Yowza! art brings retro style to modern board design. Built using North American hard rock maple and signature extra bond glue, these boards can be ridden or put on display as the artistic masterpieces they clearly are.
The spirit of the ’80s is alive in the collection of three separate retro decks—The Tales from the Tube, Murphy and Pacific Vibrations. The high-performance construction of the boards means they’re made to shred if that’s your thing. If your skating days are behind you, or you just think the boards are just too damn cool to trash, they come with a custom art box and SK8OLOGY wall mount to display on your wall.
If cruising in style is more your thing, California Locos has you covered with three more epic designs—Backdoor Cruiser, Flying Eyeball, and Murphy Cruiser. Each design is limited to 100 units, so while you may not be in a hurry skating, you don’t want to be slow to pick one of these up.
If prefer to wear your art, California Locos has you covered with a collection of T-shirts, hoodies and surf ponchos. Featuring many of Griffin’s iconic designs—including Yowza, Pacific Vibrations, Flying Eyeball, Tales from the Tube, Murphy and the Surfing Eyeball—there’s something for everybody.
Rick Griffin’s amazing artistic legacy lives on through this collection from California Locos. Head on over to California Locos to check it all out.
