Every year, during the month of November, men and women abstain from shaving to raise awareness about prostate cancer prevention, research, and education. Cleverly dubbed “Movember” this month is dedicated to all things associated with men’s health and corresponding hashtags can be found across all major social media platforms.

Here’s how it works. You start off with a clean slate on October 31st and then let your hair grow out throughout the entire month of November, until December 1st. If you want to go above and beyond, you can also lend your time and cash to a handful of charities that support the movement —including no-shave.org and the Movember Foundation.
