Diehard Fan Gets Tattoo of the Totti Selfie
Discover the phenomenon of selfies: from viral moments to tattoos, explore the impact of self-expression in the digital age.
It’s safe to say that the 2010s is the decade of the selfie. There are songs about selfies, blogs about selfies, selfies of selfies, and now tattoos of selfies. Earlier this week soccer player Francesco Totti of the AS Roma football team took a selfie on the field after scoring a goal against the Roma rival team, the SS Lazio. Apparently, this moment quickly went into the viral selfie hall of fame, up there with Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie, and was such an influential moment to one Roma fan that he went out and got the image tattooed on his arm. In the realm of fan tattoos, this is definitely a first as it commemorates a player celebrating a personal victory rather than celebrating the victory directly. Could the selfie tattoo be the new style of fan ink? Probably not, but we think it’s pretty cool that this one fan was so invested in his team and its player.
