Jenni Farley, better known as JWOWW from MTV’s Jersey Shore, made headlines when she debuted a huge tattoo of a tiger inked on her hip, and again when she got a massive tat on her shoulder blade of her daughter’s name and baby footprints. Now the Snooki & JWOWW star is at it again, this time planning an entire tattoo sleeve inspired by her favorite Disney characters. There’s a unique twist to JWOWW’s new tattoo though, and when the Disney sleeve is completed in August, we think it’s something that pretty much everyone will be able to relate to.
It was on June 7 that JWOWW first shared an Instagram photo of her Disney tattoo sleeve still in the planning stages, explaining the inspiration behind the tattoo in a long and detailed caption. “As a teen I saw Brother Bear being made and from that day on I wanted to work for Disney,” she writes alongside the Instagram photo. “I moved to NYC to go to college for animation and graphics but during my senior year I had a chance to go on a little show called Jersey Shore.” And the rest is history. “Fast forward 7 years later,” she says, “[and] my love for Disney never changed.”
Here at Inked we knew about the sleeve even before JWOWW put it on Instagram since she was being tattooed in our very own Guest Spot by renowned tattoo artist Sarah Miller. As Miller worked we kept dropping in on their session and posted video to Facebook Live, some of which you can see below.
JWOWW talks about the subjects that were often repeated from Disney film to Disney film, how these common themes related to her own life growing up, and how she has learned from them and applied them to her own relationships in her Instagram post. “I grew up always saying I’m going to find my ‘Prince Charming’ and have my ‘happily ever after,’” she writes. “Even though @rogermathewsnj is the love of my life and the one for me, I learned there is no fairy tales. Relationships are hard work and you have to work your ass off to keep them. Everyday isn’t ‘once upon a time’ and ‘true love’ you have to put in work and compromise with the one you decide to be with. So that’s my sleeve.”
The JWOWW you see today is a far cry from the wild 20-something whose main priorities were men, booze and tanning; the mother of two has obviously matured quite a bit since her Jersey Shore days, and in the meantime, has learned plenty about herself and what it takes to make a real relationship work. In the final lines of her Instagram caption, JWOWW reveals her own unique take on the Disney tattoo concept, writing, “@sarahmillertattoo is helping me show the reality. These four scenes will be the same except for their expressions…We turned them into everyday couples with everyday problems…And possibly ‘happily never after’ because at the end of the day, everyday isn’t a fairy tale.”
You can hear Sarah and JWOWW answer your questions and talk about the ink even more in this video from the tattoo session.
