Taking a Stand Through Ink
After shutting down Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren on the Senate floor as she tried to explain why Jeff Sessions would make a bad choice for attorney general, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell later said that “Sen. Warren was giving a lengthy speech. She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.” Little did Sen. McConnell know that that very last line he uttered would spark a revolution – in ink – as women around the country have since been tattooing “Nevertheless, she persisted” on themselves to take a stance against what they viewed as an injustice—not only to Sen. Warren, but also to women around the nation.
