Amber Rose Is Not Happy With GQ

Amber Rose is done being overshadowed by her past relationships with Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa. GQrecently released a lengthy interview with Rose that largely revolved around her relationship with West—that was the last straw. According to her Instagram, she was “So excited to be featured in GQ not realizing I was shooting for a tabloid.”

The article introduced the 27-year-old as Kanye’s infamous ex, Wiz Khalifa’s baby mama, and a teen stripper. Rose posted a photo of the feature (below) and wrote that situations of this sort encouraged her to organize the SlutWalk (a nonprofit organization against sexual injustice, victim blaming, derogatory labeling and gender inequality).

“I’m so much more then Kanye’s Ex or Wiz’s baby’s mama,” Rose said. “Why the fuck did you guys reach out to me for this article and photoshoot? To dumb me down?” Rose wrote that she discussed feminism and the SlutWalk during the interview, “I expected so much more from u guys. Thx for nothing.”

Still, there was a fair share of positivity in the article. For example, Rose revealed that she teaches her two-year-old son Sebastian a new word every week and she also shared how she captures the attention of a college lecture hall—by asking them to imagine the act performed by their parents that gave them life. “Your mother is a sexual being,” she tells the students. “Is she a hoe?”

Rose appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, hosted by Andy Cohen, the man responsible for the Real Housewives franchise, on October 25. Her time on the late night show followed a similar pattern to that of her GQ interview. Rose was asked to rank the Kardashians, name female recording artists that requested upwards of 30k to perform at SlutWalk LA, and to discuss Kanye West.

Cohen seemingly tried to stir up potential feuds between Rose and a number of stars in the segment titled “Amber Pros.” This involved Rose being asked to comment on Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Tyga, and Mariah Carey. Not to our surprise and much to Cohen’s dismay, Rose handled his probing questions with class and complimented all of them. (See clip below.)

In the segment titled “Plead the Fifth,” Rose interrupted Cohen each time he tried gossiping about the Kardashians. “I’m not talking about Kanye or the Kardashians at all,” she said, “I plead the fifth, again.” Rose was on WWHL to promote her new self-help memoir How To Be A Bad Bitch. The book was mentioned once.

Rose has embraced her past while attempting to build a future free of slut-shaming, but it seems nearly impossible for the star to be appreciated for more than being an ex girlfriend. Will these prior engagements forever shadow her career? When will Amber Rose be introduced as mother, author, activist, model, etc.? Time will only tell.
