After facing off against 16 other talented tattoo artists throughout the grueling fourth season of Spike TV’s “Ink Master” Scott Marshall was named the champion. The artist who hails from a suburb of Chicago—Roselle, Ill.—will receive $100,000 in prize money, an Inked feature article and the right to tell everyone that he is the “Ink Master.”
For the finale Marshall and his fellow competitors, Walter “Sausage” Frank and Matti Hixson, returned to New York to reveal the master canvasses that they had been working on at their home shops. Each artist had 35 hours to create the best tattoo of their life before presenting them to judges Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), Chris Nunez (“Miami Ink”), and Oliver Peck (Elm Street). “Ink Master” fans were also able to weigh in on the ultimate decision by taking to Twitter and tweeting for their favorites. After narrowing the field down to just Frank and Marshall the judges made the call and crowned Marshall “Ink Master.”
Details about the upcoming fifth season of “Ink Master” were also revealed during the finale. The season will focus on the intense rivalries that can develop within tattooing, as each artist will be paired up with a rival artist. Season three contestants Joshua Hibbard and Jason Clay Dunn were on hand to announce that they would be returning for the fifth season where their fierce rivalry is sure to heat up. The competition will kick off on Tuesday, September 2.
