Underage 17-Year-Old Model, Kaia Gerber, Teases New Hidden Tattoos
Despite being underage, Cindy Crawford’s daughter shows off her newest inner-leg tattoo.
On Instagram, model Kaia Gerber, 17, shared a photo showing her sitting cross-legged with a painting palette on her lap, which partially covered her newest tattoo.
Kaia Gerber’s first tattoo was captured while flashing the peace sign in a parked car. The caption reads: “Just coming on here to say I don’t think enough people talk about the weather these days.”
While most fans took the opportunity to follow the prompt, filling in comments about the weather, a few followers did notice that she was actually showing off her new tattoo. The cursive lettering is mostly hidden on the inside of her right arm.
Tattoo artist Rafael Valdez shared picture of him working on Gerber’s tattoo which shows the tattoo to read “Jordan,” Gerber’s middle name.
Gerber took to Instagram for her next piece, which came shortly after the first.
While at first glance the ink appears to say “dad” or even “dab,” a closer look reveals it might actually be the bottom of a rocket ship.
While California law states one must be over the age of 18 to get a tattoo, someone underage can get a tattoo if they are accompanied by an adult guardian.
Gerber’s 19-year-old brother, Presley Walker Gerber, was also present, so he may have been her present legal guardian.
Presley got a tattoo of his sister’s name earlier this year, which may have inspired Kaia to get her tattoos.
The siblings’ famous parents, Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, have been very supportive of all of Presley’s ink. When he got the tattoo of Kaia’s name, Rande Gerber, commented on Presley’s Instagram, “RG + JG APPROVED!” while Crawford added, “Cool.”
Most likely, they would approve of their daughter’s tattoo too. Since she doesn’t meet the legal age limit to get a tattoo, and if her brother was not her present legal guardian, one of her parents must have been with her for her appointment.
Gerber is coming off modeling for Yves Saint-Laurent and Prada at the spring/summer show in Paris, and has also appeared in Spring 2018 campaigns for Versace, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Omega.
On the podium, for Spring/Summer 2019, she appeared in nearly 30 shows, exclusively for the biggest name brands.
The 5-foot-9 model also lead the Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance campaign with Sofia Mechetner.
Gerber got her first modeling gig at just 10 years old for Versace’s junior line, and has made her acting debut in 2016, playing Carolina in the TV movie Sister Cities with Jacki Weaver and Stana Katic.
Kaia Gerber is also featured in Miss Magazine, as Miss November 2018 Issue, and has been on the cover for Vogue Paris in October’s issue of this year.
She also is among the young creatives honored by The British Fashion Council.
Gerber speaks to growing up with heavy roots in the modeling world, saying, “I’ve always been close to that world and it has always attracted me. On the coffee tables in the lounge, there were piles of books by fashion photographers such as Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts. I discovered what fashion was thanks to their photos. I’d go to the lounge and admire those images for hours sitting in the couch.”
While she has just turned 17 in September, she has already been modeling professionally for seven years, and has big plans for her future career.
