Kat Von D Hires a Stranger to Provide Breast Milk to Feed Her Baby

After many, many months of anticipation—Von D finally announced to the world that she’d given birth to her son on Sunday night. Fans were already in wait for more updates on the tattoo artist’s legacy and yesterday, they were given some shocking news on Von D’s Instagram. As you might already know, world famous tattoo artist and makeup mogul Kat Von D gave birth to her first child—born Leafar Von Drachenberg Reyes. This is Von D’s first child and husband Reyes’ second—and social media has been quick to celebrate alongside the new parents.

However, in a post to Von D’s personal Instagram, she revealed that she’s struggled to adjust to being a new mom. Von D had originally intended to breast feed her son exclusively, but she was unable to produce milk. And while formula was an option that her doctor suggested, Von D was very much against the idea and wanted the process to be as natural as possible.

Von D enlisted the help of Los Angeles midwife, Sara Howard, and sought out someone to donate breast milk that was on strictly plant-based diet.

Howard quickly introduced Von D to a mother named Morgan Campbell, who came to her rescue “without question,” and donated the couple a few ounces of breast milk in the middle of the night. 

Thanks to the help of Campbell, Von D is now successfully breastfeeding her healthy son at home.
