Civil Rights Activists Honored in Ink
John Wall, point guard for the Washington Wizards, has found a permanent and personal way to “pay respect to the ones who made a way for me,” as he’s said, by getting a series of tattoos on his back that pay tribute to icons of African American history. An Instagram story posted to Wall’s account over the weekend, and shared on Twitter by SB Nation, shows Georgia tattoo artist, Randy Harris, inking a large portrait of Malcolm X on the basketball player’s lower back, where it joins lifelike portrait tattoos of civil rights icons, such as Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
