A Sparkling Lineup for the Holiday Season

Bottles worth opening for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and every celebration in between

The holidays always bring a reason to open something festive, and sparkling wine has a way of making even the smallest moments feel like an occasion. This guide highlights a selection of bottles that offer character, craft, and a sense of place without requiring the name recognition of the larger houses. Each producer approaches traditional methods with its own style, making these wines thoughtful options for gatherings, gifts, or a quiet night by the tree.

You will find crisp, mineral driven expressions, richer styles shaped by regional fruit, and bottles with enough personality to stand out at any holiday table. Whether you want something lively for a New Year’s toast or a bottle that feels intentional without being overly formal, these selections offer a range of flavors and styles suited for the season.

Lytle-Barnett Winery

Lytle Barnett Winery

Andy Lytle founded Lytle-Barnett in 2013 as a sparkling wine house dedicated to the terroir of Oregon’s Willamette Valley and the tradition of Méthode Champenoise. Winemaker Andrew Davis, Oregon’s iconic maker of bubbles, applies the exact specifications of vintage-bottled, French Champagne in combination with the spirit of adventure found only in the Willamette Valley. The resulting wines celebrate a passion for exemplary craftsmanship and steadfast belief in Oregon’s emergence as a world-class sparkling wine region.

Breathless Wines

Breathless Sparkling Wines is a celebrated women-owned winery in Healdsburg, founded by sisters Rebecca, Cynthia, and Sharon in honor of their mother, Martha Jane, who imparted the invaluable lesson that every breath we take is a precious gift, and toast to life’s simple joys. Crafted by award-winning winemaker Penny Gadd-Coster, Breathless features 14 Méthode Champenoise sparkling wines sourced from premier Sonoma County vineyards. Guests can enjoy a glamorous 1920s-inspired tasting room or relax on the garden terrace. Experiences include classic flights, seasonal pairings, the signature Sabrage Experience, and a decadent Caviar Picnic to elevate every visit.

Acquiesce Winery

Acquiesce Winery’s 2023 Méthode Champenoise Sparkling Grenache Blanc hits with clean precision, mineral-driven, crisp, and electric with freshness. Bright notes of green apple and white stone fruit lead the charge, softened by a subtle thread of brioche and fine, elegant bubbles that glide across the palate. Crafted with intention at Acquiesce Winery, a boutique Lodi estate celebrated for unapologetically expressive Rhône-style whites, this blanc de blanc is luxury with edge, classic with bite. It’s vibrant, confident, and built for those who live loud, drink well, and savor every sparkling moment with style, grit, and joy.
