Why Chrissy Teigen Will Probably Never Get a John Legend Tattoo

If there was an award for the most perfect celebrity couple, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend would surely take it home year after year. Since tying the knot in September 2013, the supermodel and singer have brought new meaning to the term “relationship goals,” and now that their first child is on the way, America’s favorite couple can’t seem to get enough of one another. So imagine our surprise when we found out there’s one thing Chrissy Teigen will probably never do to prove her devotion to John Legend: get a tattoo of his name.
Leading up to her April 2016 appearance in Self magazine, Chrissy Teigen participated in a Google autocomplete interview to answer some of the most pressing (and hilarious) questions fans of the supermodel having been googling about her over the years. One of the questions Chrissy answered during the Google autocomplete interview was “Does Chrissy Teigen have a tattoo,” and the expectant mother answered, “No, I do not have a tattoo.” She went on to say, “I would like to do a John something, but that’s always a bad luck thing.”
Not everyone believes that tribute tattoos are a relationship kiss of death, but we’ve seen it happen far too often to not be convinced ourselves. Need some examples? How about these: Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Iggy Azalea and A$AP Rocky, Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Chris Brown and Rihanna, Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran, Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa. Still not convinced? There’s also Seal and Heidi Klum, Adrienne Bailon and Rob Kardashian, Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, and Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting.
No matter how rock-solid a relationship appears to be, no matter how many children the couple has together, no matter how many anniversaries they’ve celebrated, it seems no celebrity relationship is safe from the dreaded couples tattoo (unless you’re David and Victoria Beckham, that is). So, as much as we would love to see Chrissy Teigen get a tribute tattoo to John Legend, we’d hate to see it become a tattoo regret in the future, like relationship tattoos have for so many other celebrities.
**A funny side note on the John Legend and Chrissy Teigen tattoo story: John was also in the studio during the Google autocomplete interview. We would have loved to have seen his reaction to Chrissy’s tattoo response!
