Lady Gaga headed over to the Shamrock Social Club tattoo shop in West Hollywood for a David Bowie portrait tattoo on Saturday, just two days before she was scheduled to perform an eight-minute tribute to Bowie at the Grammy Awards on Monday. Lady Gaga’s new Bowie tribute tattoo got us thinking about how many celebrities out there have been impacted by David Bowie’s illustrious life and career, and how they chose to honor the iconic singer, both before and after his death.

There’s no doubt that, throughout his career, David Bowie influenced millions of people with his music, personality, style and outlook, and, with such notable works as Aladdin Sane, Heroes and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, it’s no surprise that famous artists like Lady Gaga and Christina Perri would want to get permanent tattoos in David Bowie’s honor.
