When it comes to tattooing, skin and in particular, skin color play an important role in the technical and sociological process. Even in 2018, tattooing dark skin is still considered taboo throughout the industry and many of the “best artists” in the world get tripped up when creating art on dark skin. However, tattoos look beautiful on every shade of skin and it’s time we began recognizing the diversity in our own industry. There are plenty of incredible artists who specialize on darker skin and tons of amazing people rocking badass work. Some of these collectors happen to be gorgeous models, many of whom have been captured by L.A. photographer J Alex.
