Gifting a bouquet of flowers is always a sweet gesture, but most of the time we don’t know what the flowers we’re giving or receiving represent. Tattoos on the other hand are often symbolic of something or someone, so we’re sure the inked individuals below know a thing or two about the lotus flower.
The lotus is sacred in many different cultures. It is the national flower of India, representing wealth, prosperity, purity and fertility. Asian cultures also recognize the lotus as a sign of sexual purity. In Egypt, the lotus flower is a symbol of resurrection, which makes sense because the seed has the power to survive 200-year-long droughts—and then blossom.
If you’re bringing flowers to a special someone that is facing one of life’s many curveballs, the lotus flower is all about rising above.
